Two things to start doing now that your mind, body and inner child will thank you for!

Have you ever felt like you’ve been going and going and going and you need a break? Me too! Life has been a little crazy lately and today I've spent the day in meetings and I decided to draw the line in the sand and give myself a break and just be!

Normally, I’d go straight home and put on my next “hat”. Being a mom, a wife, doing some more work… Instead, I stopped myself and said, take care of yourself FIRST (that’s so hard for me! How about you?)

I decided to go to my favorite park on the way home and take off my shoes, feel the earth with my feet and get connected to my body, and get out of my head. I want you to do the same and that’s why I’m sharing this with you.

Have you ever felt like you've been going and going and going and you need a break? Me too! Life has been a little crazy lately and today I've spent the day ...

Watch the video to go deeper. Read below if you want a quick summary.

Today I want to challenge you to do two things….

Challenge #1: Just be and see what comes up for you.

Stop going, going, and going all the time. I know, I know. We’ve all become so good at that! Plan time in your calendar once a week (at a minimum, preferably once a day) to make time for yourself and just be. Your brain and body will thank you for it, I promise!

Challenge #2: Build deeper relationships with those around you.

Your team, your clients, prospects, your family, friends, and yes, even with complete strangers. This will enrich your lives both personally and professionally and make you happier! As humans, we need relationships, people in our lives, connections. Seek them out.  As you know I'm always talking about the importance of relationships in business. Make this a conscious effort in your life and you will win the game of life and business growth! Let me give you a couple of examples.

  1. I met with one of my clients today that I’ve worked with for years. Unfortunately, I found out a few days ago that her Mom had passed. It was also my client’s birthday and I asked if I could stop by the office for a little visit and bring her something. I had no idea what that time together would look like. I just knew that I wanted to give her a hug, tell her I’m sorry about her Mom, and wish her a happy birthday. Our time together turned into a beautiful experience where she really opened up to me. We laughed, we cried and talked and talked and talked. She told me about her Mom and the things that she's been feeling, life, work and so much more. After I left she sent me a text and she said thank you so much for our time together, she really needed that. My heart is full and happy that I was able to give that to her and that she trusted me enough to be so open and vulnerable with me. I definitely feel closer to her too. Moments where I get to help others both personally and professionally, and where our relationship deepens are the most precious to me.

  2. I also want to encourage you to get curious about others and speak to the different people in your life. You never know how they will enrich your life! If you don’t know, I walk every morning. My favorite is watching the sunrise over the lake. A few weeks ago, one of my neighbors was out on our lake in his rowboat. I went to the edge of the lake and he rowed closer to me and we started talking. His name is John and he’s 70 years old and very active…and a fast walker to boot! I had seen him walking in the mornings from time to time and by me taking the initiative to start this lakeside conversation we have started a friendship. The stories, life experiences, talents that he shares with me are amazing. He used to be a bull rider, realtor, bodybuilder and loves creating metal sculpture, and is a photographer too. Watch out world because he’s teaching me some photography skills, how to frame a shot, and more. Just think…if I hadn’t initiated that lakeside conversation I would have missed out on all of this. What are you missing out on because you aren’t taking the initiative to start conversations with people around you?

Get curious and ask questions. Lead by example and they'll follow. These are things that are going to help you grow your business, grow your quality of life, and help you live longer.

Comment below and let me know if you are going to take me up on these two challenges? I’d love to hear what happens for you when you do!
