Did you know that pens are one of the top five promotional products to give out to help you market your business? I don't want you to be boring and just giveaway any old pen. Or do things exactly the same way your competition is. Today, I’ve put together some ideas to show you how to use pens to market your business that will help you achieve your goals. Let's dive in!
- Do you have a trade show going on? If you are an eco-friendly company or are doing an eco-friendly trade show, then give out a branded, eco-friendly pen and notebook combination. Put the pen into the tradeshow bags that the attendees get before they come into the show. The pen has a note attached that says, stop by our booth to pick up the notepad that goes with this pen. This is also a great conversation starter when attendees walk by. Ask them to pull out their pen so you can see what color it is and give them the matching notebook.
- Are you looking for more referrals? I mean, who isn’t!?! I have a referral system that I’ve created that you can use too. Just reach out to me and I’ll share it with you. It’s a Secret Agent themed referral kit. It includes a “Mission Possible” pen, “Top Secret” briefcase and an RFID blocker. I’ve created this kit in a fun way that gets attention and gets my clients talking. 80% of the time when I send this out I’ll get a referral. Now that’s a success!!
- Do you want a marketing piece that surprises and delights your recipient and makes them smile? This one fits the bill. Mail this tube out and include the pen and marketing components that you want. When the tube is opened a fun sound comes out announcing that it has arrived and has something special inside. Remember, the more senses that you engage the better and more memorable you are.
- Let's talk about lumpy mail. It gets way more attention than if it was just a flat piece of mail. It induces curiosity and people NEED to know what’s inside. This is a great example of a marketing piece we can do if you’re a realtor. Inside is a house-shaped pen. It has all your branding and information on the two-sided imprint and it stands out.
- Are you doing an invitation to a party or announcing your wellness program? Instead of just sending out a plain old boring invitation, send out something that's more fun, more personalized, more engaging like this. We can even personalize each one with the recipient’s name on it and a fun image on one side. The other side would have the details.
- Here's another direct mail campaign. Washington Health Center wanted to let their target audience know that they are “one of a kind”. They are the green apple in the bundle of red ones. They further enhanced this message by including a green apple-shaped pen.
- Celebrate fun holidays that your competition isn’t and surprise your clients! People always acknowledge major holidays and it’s hard to stand out in the crowd during those times. Instead send something to your clients and prospects for a lesser celebrated holiday like Star Wars Day, May the Fourth (be with you). This is one we did. It says "Always be yourself unless you can be a Jedi then be a Jedi". The branded pen lights up on top to resemble a lightsaber to tie it all in. We received so many amazing responses from this. I've mailed it out, given it out at presentations I’ve given, etc. and everybody loves it.
- Do a branded survival/moving/travel/welcome kit with this fun package. Fill it with items that are related to your theme. Put a cool pen in there too. You can personalize the content in each one. And keep the imprint more generic so you can use yours in a variety of ways. Your fans will love receiving this one!
- Do you meet with your clients to discuss ideas, coach them, etc.? Then a notebook with a coordinating pen is a perfect gift to give them at your first meeting. This gives them a place to keep all their notes for the project(s) they are working on with you. Adding a nice pen that matches the notebook gives this gift a higher perceived value too and gets you started on the right foot.
- Speaking of notebooks, I can’t end this without showing you one of my favorite ones for people who are on the go. I love the big imprint area, dot grid paper inside and it has two pockets on the back. One to hold your phone. The other to hold small items like your cables, pens, pencils, etc.
